In short
- No account and no sign-up. We do not run our own servers and do not collect your personal information.
- Your approximate location is used only to show local weather. It is sent to our weather data provider (QWeather) to look up the forecast.
- Your cities, settings and weather diary stay on your phone.
- Ads are provided by Google AdMob; payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
Lucky Cat Weather (招财喵天气, package name com.moodweather.app, "the App") is a weather app for Android. This policy explains what information the App uses, why, and the choices you have. "We" means the developer of the App.
2. Information the App uses
Approximate location
If you grant the location permission, the App reads your approximate (coarse) location on your device to show weather where you are. The coordinates are sent to QWeather to fetch current conditions, forecasts, air quality, weather alerts and nearby place names. The App does not request precise location or background location. The most recent location is stored on your device so that weather alert notifications and the home-screen widget can refresh later. You can deny the permission and add cities manually instead.
Cities, settings and weather diary
Cities you add, your temperature unit, language, notification setting, weather cache, weather diary and liked items are stored only on your device. When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to QWeather to find matching places.
Weather alert notifications
If you turn on alerts, the App periodically checks official weather alerts for your saved location and cities (via QWeather) and shows notifications on your device.
Translation
Alert translation uses Google ML Kit and runs on your device. The alert text is not sent to a translation server. The first time you translate between two languages, a language model is downloaded from Google.
Advertising
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions to deliver, measure and (where permitted) personalize ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the App asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are used, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings. Pro members see no ads, and the App does not load ads for them.
Purchases (Lucky Cat Pro)
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive your name, email or payment card details. The App only receives purchase status from Google Play (which product was bought and whether it is active) to unlock Pro features, and stores that status on your device.
3. Third-party services

These providers may process data on servers outside your country. QWeather's servers are primarily located in mainland China.
4. Storage, retention and deletion
Data the App keeps is stored on your device until you remove it. You can delete a city in the App, clear the App's data in Android settings, or uninstall the App to erase everything. If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android may back up the App's settings and cities to your Google account, as governed by Google's policies. We have no copy of this data.
5. Your choices
- Location: allow or deny in Android settings at any time.
- Notifications: turn weather alerts on or off in the App's Settings or in Android settings.
- Ads: change ad consent in Settings → Privacy choices (where applicable), reset your advertising ID, or upgrade to Pro to remove ads.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because we do not hold your personal data on our own servers, most requests can be fulfilled by the controls above; for data processed by third parties, please also refer to their policies. You may contact us with any request.
6. Children
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Security
All network requests from the App use encrypted HTTPS connections.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always published on this page with its effective date.
